A new solution with the potential to change how older and disabled people with walking difficulties move, stay active and maintain their independence
BHK Solutions Kenya
A simple idea with the potential to change how older people with walking difficulties move, stay active and maintain their independence
develops practical, evidence-based solutions to real society challenges. Kenya alone has an immediate need for 550,000 mobility aids, a demand that will only grow and the problem remains
“People cannot request a mobility solution they have never seen.”

Pricila, pictured here at the Association for the Physically Disabled of Kenya (APDK), received the rollator donated by BHK Solutions more than two years ago. This became our first real-life pilot and marked the beginning of the Active Mobility Initiative.
Why BHK
Movement is dignity. Mobility is participation.
The outdoor-adapted rollator is a standard rehabilitation device in Norway, yet the category is virtually absent in Kenya. We are introducing it through observation, research, pilot validation and commercial preparation — not marketing.
Pilot-validated
Two successful pilot programmes with APDK, including nearly two years of continuous outdoor use.
Repairable
Simple, replaceable parts. Detachable rear wheels. Serviceable by local workshops.
Professionally assessed
Evaluated with users, caregivers and rehabilitation professionals in Kenya.
The Rollator
The outdoor-adapted rollator.

A lightweight aluminium frame with polyurethane wheels sized for rougher Kenyan pavements. Height-adjustable handles, mechanical cable brakes, a seat with backrest and a practical basket — folded in seconds, serviced with basic tools.

From the founder
Why this company exists.

"Coming from Norway, where the outdoor-adapted rollator is a standard part of the national assistive technology system, I found that this entire category was virtually absent in Kenya despite a clear need.
Our insight is not simply that rollators are missing, but that an established and proven mobility solution has never been meaningfully introduced into East Africa's rehabilitation ecosystem."
